Prenatal Classes

The Midwives Clinic offers prenatal classes taught by one of our registered midwives. The classes are open to our clients and the general public. Generally our classes are held at the clinic in the evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The course is 4 weeks long. The evening may vary and you will receive this information when you sign up. Two consecutive weekend classes, usually two Saturdays in a row, are sometimes an option.
It is an interactive course with lots of discussion and time for questions. It is also a great opportunity to meet other people embarking on parenthood and form connections that can be invaluable, especially in that first year postpartum.
We recommend that couples register for a course that starts somewhere between 28 and 34 weeks pregnant. The prenatal class cost is $250.
The class covers many topics, including:
1) the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy
2) understanding the stages of labour and birth
3) comfort techniques for labour
4) variations of labour and common medical procedures
5) what happens after the baby is born
7) breastfeeding
8) your newborn
